ABOUT US - A RICH HISTORY

Pastors Lani & Kathy Janisee

In 1979, after completing education, training and ordinations in Southern California, Lani and Kathy Janisse received a directive to prepare for a move.

Wow! It turned out to be a 3,600 mile ‘move’ – quitting jobs, selling their home and many possessions, packing up the car with 3 young children and pets; and driving to a ‘new world’ in culture and spirituality! They moved to their new home in West Hartford, Vermont.

For five years they served in three different churches as they learned about the people, culture, and spiritual pulse of the Upper Valley. They were ready now for the next move.

In 1985, they purchased 8 acres, home and carriage house in Hartford, Vermont. At the same time they began a Bible study in their home which quickly grew to 35 members meeting regularly. The group was named "New Life Fellowship". After several months new direction came for what was next.

In 1989, at a Holy Convocation and Conference at Singing Hills, in NH with more than 250 attending including leaders from the US and other nations, Lani and Kathy Janisse were commissioned and ordained as Founders and Pastors/Shepherds for the congregation. The Church received a new name at the same time of Praise Chapel Outreach and Training Center.

Praise Chapel acquired property and began renovations. Additions were made in 1991 and again in 1995 as Potter's House School - Preschool through 12th grade was founded serving families through the Upper Valley. A specialized childcare center was added in 2011. What a blessing to the community!

God’s family at Praise Chapel continues to serve the Upper Valley community with many outreaches. The food shelf, Joseph's Storehouse, has been serving families for over 25 years! Also, the Living Word School of Ministry, the Healing Rooms & Wellness Center of Central Vermont, and Winning Our World (missions), are just a few of the outreach ministries you can become part of, while serving Christ and others in your community.

In 2014, because of increasing needs in the Upper Valley, space was designated for the Cornerstone Community Center, where many public outreaches continue to take place. We continue to dream big to expand out current space! We dream of after school programs, summer programs for children, a teen center, and space to meet all the needs of the community!

What’s next? God truly knows!
